When I met my other half a couple of years ago, I told him of my cape fetishism and he said in a rather insensitive, no-room-for-argument tone: “This is not a cape. It’s a poncho. Capes are for superheroes.” After this political incident, I quickly saw that he would not be making this mistake again: it is called a cape, not a vulgar poncho… and I can be a superhero if I want to.
Every Fall now you hear that capes are back in trend, but when you think of it, since they made their big come back in fashion a few years ago, they have never really gone out again. And there’s a very good reason why: capes are the best! They symbolise the excitement of going back to school and new beginnings! We have to start thinking of keeping warm, but not too warm at the same time – go away you big coats, it’s not your time to shine yet! And also they look fab with absolutely everything!
